The Power of Choice is a campaign supporting students, schools and parents, focused on building resiliency and providing education to increase the number of students making healthy choices regarding substance use.
The Power of Choice is a collaborative project led by 360 Youth Services in District 203 and 204 Middle and High Schools.
6th-8th Grade Campaign
Guided by local data from the Illinois Youth Survey, the campaign uses marketing materials to encourage students in the 6th-8th grade community to keep making healthy choices as they move toward their future goals. Lunch-time activities also support students.
High School Campaign
The campaign shares positive messages and data through media designed with student input. Reporting the healthy social norms of teens in our local area is one aspect of this environmental prevention strategy. Face-to-face encounters in classroom presentations and lunch-time activities also support students.
The parent campaign is designed to give parents the tools they need to build resilience in their children by providing parents support, encouragement and guidance as they communicate with their children about issues around tobacco, alcohol and other drug use.
